Mandalay Jumps at pony club sponsorship

July 2009

The Shire of Mitchell’s landmark master-planned development ‘Mandalay at Beveridge’ has saddled-up for the long term benefit of the local region announcing its recent sponsorship with the Beveridge and District Pony Club.

Mandalay will be the club’s sponsor for the next three years, with funds going towards rebuilding the aging facilities and to help upgrade infrastructure including pony jumps and signage.

Operating for over 35 years, the Beveridge and District Pony Club has become an icon within the municipality with its members spanning generations which, it is hoped, will soon include new members of the fast developing Mandalay estate.

Part of Mandalay’s funding will be put towards a much needed storage shed for the jump equipment which is currently stored in the ground’s team club room, and will further aid the Club in its drive to build a pump to supply water for the jumps.

The Club is also currently in talks to create a new ‘high point of the show’ award dedicated to Mandalay at the next inter-club competition.

The sponsorship announcement has come as a welcome helping hand for the Pony Club, which in the past has relied on internal fundraising and council grants to help with the club’s upkeep.

Beveridge Pony Club president, Rose Nott, said the sponsorship announcement has given inspiration to look towards a brighter future.

“ Mandalay has provided renewed energy to tackle our long term goals for the Pony Club and move forward with a fresh outlook,” Mrs Nott said.

“ We hope to generate new memberships and develop the inter-club championships as well as build on our performance in district competitions.

“ We have a great bunch of kids at the club who want to put in and work hard at achieving fantastic results so we are ecstatic that Mandalay have given us a welcome boost to provide the best facilities to help them attain these goals.”

Dedicated to supporting all facets of the local Beveridge community, Mandalay has established the Mandalay art award with the Beveridge Primary School as well as finalising further support with various sporting and social clubs in the local and surrounding regions.

Rod Binedell said community support was a pivotal aspect of integrating Mandalay into the close-knit community.

“ We are not only building a development here, we are integrating a whole new community. Therefore it is imperative to support the existing local community helping to maintain and grow local facilities that will play a major role in the lives of people that will eventually call Mandalay home.”
