Mandalay saddles up for pony club show

January 2010

The Shire of Mitchell’s iconic ‘Beveridge and District Pony Club’ is cantering towards their Annual Open Horse Show on Sunday 14 February, which is proudly sponsored by the neighbouring residential community, ‘Mandalay at Beveridge’.

A fun-filled event for the whole family to enjoy, the event will showcase equestrian jumps skills and competitions throughout the day, before leading into the ‘Mandalay Supreme Champion Pony Combination’ award, the event’s pinnacle achievement.

A great opportunity to see if the Pony Club can tickle your interest to join and improve your stirrup skills, or simply saddle up and enjoy the show, the club organisers are encouraging new faces to come down and see what the Pony Club has to offer.

For master planned community ‘Mandalay’, it will be a fantastic opportunity to see how their three year partnership, which begun last year, has already helped the endearing local club, which after 35 years of operation was in dire need of funding support.

Mandalay has already pledged $5,000 towards a much needed storage shed for the jumps equipment which had been stored in the ground’s team club room, and will further aid the Club in its drive to build a pump to supply water for the jumps.

Pony Club President, Rose Nott, said the event would be a rare opportunity for the club’s young members to showcase their new skills and perform for the local community.

“ The annual horse show is one of our main events for the year and helps promote our club to the surrounding region.

“ The show caters for riders of all age groups and riding abilities, with jumps and other obstacles to suit beginner riders of six or seven years old, all the way up to 18 years,” she said.

Ms Nott also praised Mandalay’s continued support towards the club, thanking the development for their commitment to funding local community events and activities.

“ Mandalay’s sponsorship has already proven indispensible this year, from funding the jumps shed to supporting the Annual Open Horse Show, we are incredibly grateful for their help and we look forward to a continued relationship in the future,” Ms Nott said.

Mandalay sales and marketing manager, Crystall Mousios, said it was imperative to support the local community groups as the estate develops and brings new residents and opportunities to the region.

“ Over the coming decade, Mandalay’s master planned community will bring approximately 6,000 new residents to Beveridge.

“ So as well as providing vital facilities such as a proposed primary school, proposed commercial district and both indoor and outdoor sporting infrastructure, it is equally as important to support the surrounding region by funding sporting and community groups as well as the local schools.

“ Mandalay will endeavour to strengthen its bonds with the community as we look towards the future in 2010 and beyond, ensuring the community groups receive the support they need to welcome the growing population.

The Annual Open Horse Show will commence at 9am, 14 February 2010 at the Beveridge and District Pony Club, Lithgow Avenue, doors open at 7am.
