The only way is up for Mitchell Rangers
December 2010
It’s been a tumultuous few years for the Mitchell Rangers Soccer Club, with no home ground to support its growing members and what looked like sparsely enough funds to see the club through the next two seasons, the club was definitely down and out.
However, after recording its best season to-date in 2010, winning the Men’s Seniors Championship and fielding a record-breaking six teams, as well as enjoying a three year sponsorship deal from local residential community, ‘Mandalay at Beveridge’, the club is well and truly back on its feet.
Mandalay at Beveridge signed a $7,000 per year sponsorship arrangement with the Rangers at the start of 2009, which will see a total of $21,000 injected into the club over three years.
This crucial funding has allowed the club to purchase new training equipment as well as a multi-purpose storage unit. The funding has also helped provide new jumpers for every team member.
Thanks in part to this growing support, The Rangers are looking towards an even bigger 2011, with hopes to secure at least 10 soccer teams as registrations for the coming season continue to rise.
Club Treasurer, Eileen Bugeja, said the club’s most pressing goals were to garner more support from the community as well as continue to fight for a permanent home ground.
“ Our new members continue to rise each year as more people move into Shire of Mitchell from the surrounding northern suburbs.”
“ It’s imperative that we secure a dedicated home ground so that we can keep this momentum growing in the coming years.”
“ Mandalay’s sponsorship has been an important funding boost for our club over the past two years, helping us move towards reaching these goals as well as providing vital stability for the club,” she said.
Mandalay’s marketing manager, Melissa Tilley said the estate’s key sponsorship deal with the Rangers was an opportunity to support the surrounding community as new residents begin to call the region home.
“ The Shire of Mitchell is experiencing a population boom and Mandalay will house a large portion of these new residents.
“ One of our priorities remains to ensure that these residents have access to community groups such as sporting clubs, youth groups and the like.
“ Mandalay’s partnership with the Mitchell Rangers is just one of our key sponsorship initiatives within the growing region,” she said.
